SUNRISE and ATLANTIS Project Policy Paper
December saw the release of a collaborative policy paper from two Horizon Europe-funded projects, ATLANTIS and the SUNRISE Project, titled “Enhancing Resilience of Critical Infrastructures in Europe: Insights and Recommendations.”
Critical Infrastructure (CI) is the backbone of Europe’s stability and prosperity, yet it faces unprecedented challenges such as pandemics, cyber threats, climate-induced disasters, and hybrid warfare. Addressing these systemic risks is more urgent than ever.
This policy brief combines the expertise of ATLANTIS and SUNRISE to offer actionable insights and recommendations, including:
- Aligning with EU policies like the CER and NIS2 Directives.
- Adopting AI-powered Decision Support Systems (DSS) for better crisis management.
- Fostering cross-sector collaboration and real-time data sharing.
- Preparing for cascading risks with scenario-based planning.
The goal of this paper is To drive a unified, innovative, and sustainable approach to securing Europe’s CI, ensuring societal stability and economic continuity in the face of emerging threats.
As systemic threats grow more complex, the findings of this collaboration serve as a roadmap for policymakers, organizations, and industries to strengthen resilience and safeguard our shared future.
