The SUNRISE Project, together with EU-CIP and ATLANTIS, successfully concluded its Joint Final Event under the theme “Collaborate, Innovate, Anticipate, Protect – A European Blueprint for Resilient Infrastructure.”

Setting the Stage for Resilience

The day opened with remarks from Max Brandt (DG HOME) and a keynote by Andrew McKay Bower (UNDRR), setting the framework for dialogue on Europe’s preparedness and resilience. Guided by Sebastian Serwiak (DG HOME) as Master of Ceremony, the programme featured perspectives from policy, industry, and research, showcasing the breadth of expertise mobilised to strengthen Europe’s critical infrastructure.

From Research to Industry

The panel “From Research to Industry” brought together voices from sectors including energy, finance, healthcare, and aviation to discuss how European research can deliver tangible benefits for critical infrastructure. Moderated by Doris Neumann (SUNRISE Project Officer), the session underscored the importance of ensuring research outputs address the needs of end-users and industry leaders.

Live demonstrations showcased how research translates into practical solutions for resilience:

Shaping the Future of Critical Infrastructure

The second panel, “Shaping the Future of Critical Infrastructure”, connected policy and strategy, gathering insights from EU projects, international organisations, and research networks. Experts explored how Europe can anticipate and prepare for future challenges in resilience.

Closing Reflections

The event concluded with closing remarks from Juuso Stenfors (EU-CIP Project Officer), followed by a networking reception that fostered new connections and future collaboration.
