SUNRISE National Workshop Series Round Two: Slovenia
The second round of SUNRISE National Workshops kicked off this week with the Slovenian workshop taking place in the Crystal Palace conference room in Ljubljana, organized by the Institute for Corporate Security Studies – ICS Ljubljana on May 9th.
Building upon the successfully implemented first round of national workshops that took place towards the end of 2022, the goal of these gatherings is to facilitate regular discussions with critical infrastructure and gather their expert insights that will inform the project’s results. This direct input from the project’s key stakeholders will be crucial to the success of the SUNRISE outputs, ensuring they are meeting the real needs of CI operators in Europe.
The workshop was led and moderated by Denis Čaleta, Milan Tarman, Marko Potokar and Daniel Vladušič (XLB) and attendees included all Slovenian SUNRISE project partners and invited participants. In addition to ICS Ljubljana, these SUNRISE partners are XLAB, the Ministry of Infrastructure, UKC Ljubljana, Plinovodi, ELES, Slovenske železnice, Slovenske železnice-infrastruktura, Prometni Institut Ljubljana, Telekom Slovenije as project. Invited participants included Vodovod Maribor, DARS, NKBM, URSIV and NIJZ whose insights towards the discussion were invaluable.
Following a welcome address from ICS and the introduction of the participants, the purpose of the productive discussion was to gather experience, identify shortcomings, expectations and good practices formulating answers on how we can support each other, and how we can collaborate better in crises related to:
- Epidemiological scenarios
- Climate change scenarios and
- Threats scenarios.
The focus was on creating answers, how we can support others and how we can better cooperate in crises related to the pandemic situations. Special emphasis was placed on understanding the public-private partnership and what is already in the operational environment, what is missing and how we can achieve strategic and systemic improvements. The collected information, experience and good practice will support the continuation of discussions, analyses and research of the EU project SUNRISE in the national and international environment and ultimately, towards the SUNRISE outputs including our starategies and technologies for critical infrastructure operators across Europe. Stay tuned to our website for future updates on the development of the tools and pilot applications.
Next up is the project’s EU workshop on June 9th 2023 which will bring the SUNRISE national workshop discussions to date together.
