MEETING BETWEEN THE CNPIC AND THE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE CRITICAL
OPERATORS OF THE DIFFERENT STRATEGIC SECTORS OF THE CRITICAL
INFRASTRUCTURE PROTECTION SYSTEM.
The National Center for Critical Infrastructure Protection (CNPIC) is the body of the Ministry
of the Interior, in Spain, in charge of the promotion, coordination and supervision of all the
activities entrusted to the Secretary of State for Security in relation to Critical Infrastructure
Protection in the national territory.
On May 9, 2024, a meeting was held at the facilities of the National Center for Critical
Infrastructure Protection (CNPIC), located in the Security Technology Center of the Ministry
of the Interior, between the CNPIC and the representatives of the critical operators of the
strategic sectors of the Critical Infrastructure Protection System.
In this meeting, chaired by the Director of CNPIC, an exhaustive presentation of the
SUNRISE Project (Strategies and Technologies for United and Resilient Critical
Infrastructures and Vital Services in Pandemic-Stricken Europe) was carried out. During this
meeting, the fundamental objectives of the project were addressed, a context was provided
on the strategies to be implemented, as well as the innovative tools designed to ensure
optimal continuity of essential services.
Information was also provided on the CNPIC’s participation in the project, such as its
participation in the working groups and the development of strategies to raise awareness
and strengthen the resilience of infrastructures. The CNPIC, as the body responsible for
supervising the protection of critical infrastructures at national level, also plays the role of
validating entity in the project, together with three other European authorities. This role is
carried out together with three other European authorities from the other two partner
countries, Italy and Slovenia.
There is no doubt that the CNPIC considers that the results obtained with the SUNRISE
project will be of interest to Critical Operators to face challenges in this field. Hence, within
the framework and under the umbrella of the trust established between the Operators
(public and private sector) and the CNPIC, this project has been announced.
