The second week of May marked an important milestone for the SUNRISE project, as the fourth and final round of our national workshops was successfully held across Spain (6th May), Italy, and Slovenia (8th May). These events brought together key stakeholders and critical infrastructure (CI) operators to reflect on and engage with some of the most pressing issues in resilience and continuity planning.

The discussions across all three countries were centred around the SUNRISE Strategy, Business Continuity Plans, and the Critical Entities Resilience Directive. These topics sparked rich dialogue, particularly in Spain, where the recent massive blackout served as a real-world backdrop to the workshop. The incident provided a timely and powerful context for participants to analyse their responses and compare them with previous emergencies.

Operators from various critical infrastructure sectors shared their strategies, challenges, and insights, creating a valuable opportunity to exchange best practices. Participants explored practical implementations of resilience planning, identified gaps, and highlighted effective approaches used across different domains.

The final workshops were not only a capstone to our national-level engagements but also a testament to the importance of cross-border collaboration in enhancing the resilience of critical services in Europe. As the SUNRISE project continues to move forward, these shared experiences and lessons will play a vital role in shaping a stronger, more connected response to future challenges.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to build resilience together.
