ICS Ljubljana and the Slovenian Corporate Security Association recently hosted a prominent national consultation titled Implementation of the EU NIS 2 Directive Supported by Good Practices of EU Projects.
Held on Thursday, 5 December 2024, at the House of the European Union, the event was supported by several European projects, including SUNRISE, ATLANTIS, CEDAR, CYBER SEAS, and ENDURANCE, in which the Institute for Corporate Security Studies is actively involved.
The conference opened with welcoming addresses from esteemed speakers:
- Dr. Denis Čaleta, President of the Slovenian Corporate Security Association
- Dr. Jelena Virant Burnik, Information Commissioner
- Mark Pohar, Deputy Director of AKOS
- Dr. Uroš Svete, Director of URSIV
The event featured three in-depth lectures by representatives of the Information Security Office, covering key aspects of the EU NIS 2 Directive:
- Achieving compliance with the NIS 2 Directive.
- A proposed Recommendation for Providers of Essential Services to support compliance efforts.
- Insights into cybersecurity practices—both exemplary and problematic—identified during organizational inspections.
The consultation concluded with a dynamic roundtable discussion on “Experiences of Cooperation in EU Research Projects in Cybersecurity and Critical Infrastructure: A Driver for Adapting to New Regulatory Changes.” Representatives from Telekom Slovenije, ELES, Elektro Gorenjska, Plinovodi, Slovenian Railways, and URSIV shared their perspectives on this critical topic.
Dr. Denis Čaleta closed the meeting by thanking participants for their engagement and extended warm wishes for a successful year ahead on behalf of the Slovenian Corporate Security Association.
