Brief Biography of Partner

Founded in 1985 by Law Community Parliament, CRTM is the public transport authority of Madrid integrating the entire public transport system in the region, with big public operators such as Metro Madrid, EMT de Madrid, Cercanías Renfe, 33 private bus operators under concession system, and 4 private metro and light rail operators under concession system. CRTM has a staff of 125 people. More than 1.6 billion passengers use Madrid’s public transport system every year, with a high-quality service and integration system.

CRTM seeks to promote the Public Transport system in the region, through four main functions: planning transport infrastructures, defining the fare systems and subsidies to the different operators, defining the operation programs for the different operators and promoting an integrated image of public transport system. CRTM is also promoting technological integration and innovation as one of the main pillars of its strategy.

Partner’s Role in the SUNRISE project

Within the SUNRISE, CRTM is the operator of critical transport infrastructure in the Spanish cluster of the project meaning they will be involved in collaboration activities with other Spanish CIs. In addition to their cluster role, they will support the engineering requirements and design specifications and validation of the SUNRISE technical tools. Finally, they will support the project’s impact creation and communication, dissemination and policy-making activities.
