Brief Biography of Partner
Slovenian Railways (Slovenske železnice – SZ) are the national rail transport operator (passenger and freight) and infrastructure manager for the Slovenian railway network. The company is 100% state-owned and has a holding organization with different subsidiary companies (Slovenian Railways Group with a parent company Slovenske železnice, d.o.o. – SŽ; Slovenian Railways). The company is internationally oriented (services abroad, working on EU projects, membership in international organizations etc).
The companies provide maintenance and management of the public railway infrastructure, management of rail traffic, passenger and freight carriage on public rail infrastructure, train haulage and technical vehicle management. These core activities are accompanied by ancillary and additional services and other activities that are necessary for a high-quality performance of the core operations.
Partner’s Role in the SUNRISE project
As a critical infrastructure operator, Slovenian Railways will bring their knowledge and expertise to SUNRISE, particularly within the project’s Slovenian cluster of CI operators. SZ will contribute by providing access to infrastructure, requirements and needs and participating in pilot applications of the SUNRISE technical tools and solutions including demonstration, testing and validation.
