Welcome to issue Three of the SUNRISE LinkedIn newsletter series.

SUNRISE is an EU-funded Horizon Europe project that aims to ensure greater resilience of critical infrastructures in Europe such as water, transport and health.

In our newsletter, you’ll find an overview of the latest news, events, and developments from the SUNRISE project partners as well as general discussion from the critical infrastructure sector.

This edition will look at the first round of project pilots that took place over the summer, SUNRISE’s participation in the FEDCSIS conference and the latest round of national and EU-level workshops

If you have any questions relating to the project please get in contact: oisin@carrcommunications.ie

Events

In the first year of the project SUNRISE has participated in 20 events, from workshops to seminars to conferences with 17 of these taking place in 2023.

In June, SUNRISE was represented at the European Commission (DG Home) and the European Research Executive Agency (REA), two day Projects to Policy Seminar in Brussels. SUNRISE was included in a breakout session with 16 other projects, focused on Fighting Crime & Terrorism, including Resilient Infrastructure.

In October, SUNRISE took part in CERIS’s Security Research Event in Brussels as one of 50 specially selected European projects. In addition to a dedicated booth at the event ,representatives from the SUNRISE project were able to demonstrate the project’s Tool for Resource Demand Prediction and Management as well as the Tool for Increased Cyber Physical Resilience which drew an engaged audience.

To close out the year in December, SUNRISE as a part of the ECSCI Cluster, was involved in the ECSI Remote Workshop which focused on collaborative standardisation and policy making for greater critical infrastructure resilience in Europe.

SUNRISE Tools

Work was undertaken by SUNRISE partners throughout 2023 on the development of the technologies and solutions to improve the planning and management of critical infrastructures such as transport, energy, water, and healthcare.

On the SUNRISE website, dedicated pages were built out highlighting each of the four tools, as well as the project’s strategy and collaboration work, outlining the benefits and impacts of these technologies and solutions.

You can visit each page below;

SUNRISE Workshops

2023 saw the second round of SUNRISE National Workshops take place in Slovenia, Italy and Spain.

Building upon the successfully implemented first round of national workshops that took place towards the end of 2022, the goal of these gatherings was to facilitate regular discussions with critical infrastructure and gather their expert insights that will inform the project’s results.

In June, there was a successfully implemented pan-European workshop with critical infrastructure stakeholders with the 44 participants from 13 countries present at the workshop.

Thank you for reading and we look forward to keeping you up-to-date about SUNRISE and pandemic preparedness in future editions.
